COME HANG WITH THE APEs ~ 13th Annual Nolichucky River Cleanup ThisWeekend. by Sarah Stine

Calling all paddlers! It's time once again for the Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts’ (APEs) 13th annual Nolichucky River cleanup. As APEs we pride ourselves on our particular emphasis, to protect the rivers we love and spend so much time on year round.

For several years now the club has organized successful cleanups, and this year we want it to be our biggest year yet. We want to see boaters of all kinds, fisherman, hikers and all outdoor enthusiasts getting involved. The cleanup will take place on June 18th. Registration will begin at 11am at the USA Rafts Nolichucky location in Erwin, TN.

Thanks to our wonderful sponsors there will be awesome prizes from Astral, Chaco, NRS, Landmark Learning, Kokatat and more! At 6pm, after a long day on the river all volunteers will meet back up for a FREE BBQ dinner.

As an added bonus there is a raffle for a NEW JACKSON FUN KAYAK! All proceeds are donated to Camp Bays Mountain, a local kids camp focusing on outdoor activities. If you can walk, roll, paddle or just like being outside, we need your help! Visit riverapes.org or see our facebook page Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts https://m.facebook.com/groups/86814526808/?view=group for more information and to get connected.

Founded in 1986, the Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) has grown to be the premier paddling club in Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Northwest North Carolina. Our membership is comprised of individuals who enjoy paddling all types of self-propelled watercraft along the rivers of our region. The APEs provide the forum for individuals of our area to join together in order to help advance the sport of whitewater paddling, the skills of fellow paddlers, share information, and protect the rivers we love.
